Defense Secretary Hagel Set for Saudi Arabia Visit

Newly appointed Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will travel to Saudi Arabia and other points in the Middle East from April 20-27 according to a Pentagon announcement yesterday. He will stop in Israel and Jordan before reaching Riyadh. Following the visit to Saudi Arabia Hagel will travel to Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. The Secretary will focus on bilateral issues at each stop as well as the regional challenges of Iran and Syria.

The Saudi Central Department of Statistics provides the government’s report of inflation rates every month. This week Jadwa Investment released its monthly “Inflation Report” for March 2013 which noted, “Saudi CPI inflation maintained the 3.9 percent year-on-year increase for the third consecutive month in March.” The estimate of core inflation slowed in March after a five month period of a positive trend.
